State Street Thanksgiving Parade
Scores of marching bands, festive floats
and giant helium balloons will signal
the start of the holiday shopping season,
bright and early on November 25th, when
the Thanksgiving Day Parade rolls down
State Street. Originally called the Marshall
Field's Jingle Elf Parade, this celebration
gets bigger and better each year, with
crowds that exceed the 300,000 mark. Highlights
include live performances from some of
the city's top theatrical productions.
If you are among the spirited folk that
will squeeze in along the parade route,
be sure to walk by Daley Plaza before
heading home so that you can admire the
city's official Christmas Tree.
